La Clusaz, situated just one hour from Geneva Airport and an eight hour drive from Calais, is in the Haute Savoie region of France. It is highly regarded by the French as a perfect holiday destination for skiing in winter and for summer activities. In spring and autumn why not come and take in the mountain flora and the "New England" like colours of the leaves. No chemical fertilisers have ever been used on the land, which accounts for the abundance of wild flora no longer seen in other parts of europe. La Clusaz is not a purpose built concrete jungle, but a working village with chalet style architecture and old farms dotted around the mountainside, some of which have been turned into atmospheric mountain restaurants. The La Clusaz clientele is predominately French and so the village retains its rural and somewhat exotic charm even during Winter and Summer high seasons. La Clusaz has developed over the years from an isolated farming community into a holiday destination with an international reputation. Despite the huge growth in visitors, the local economy still relies on the production of the acclaimed Organic cheeses, such as Reblechon, Tomme de Savoie and Chevrotin goats cheese. In addition to the skiing, La Clusaz has become a base for the energetic visitor all year round. In Summer there are more than 40 sports and activities available in the immediate area, including most water sports on beautiful lake Annecy, just 30 minutes away. La Clusaz has excellent climbing and via ferrata facilities, and is also a short drive from the alpinists mecca of Chamonix Within an hours drive you can visit many interesting places, such as medieval Yvoire, and the towns of Geneva, Annecy and Aix-les-Bains. There are also many interesting geological formations, such as the Gorge de Fier and Sixt Fer à Cheval. Whether it be winter or summer, or the quieter periods in between, La Clusaz is an ideal holiday destination.
