There are five interlinked ski areas, each with pistes suitable for all standards. There are also acres of off-piste possibilies for the better skier. In total there are 140 kms of prepared downhill runs, served by 54 lifts. For cross country lovers there are 70 kms of cross country trails.

Practical Matters Equipment Hire We recommend La Piste Blanche because the equipment is excellent, you can easily park next to the shop, and the shop is conveniently close to the lift pass office and the ESF office in the centre of the village. You can leave your skis there each evening if you wish to do a bit of après ski. He also sells essential equipment, but not many clothes. If you book on line, François will give you up to 40% off. Just follow the link below. It is a particularly good idea to book your skis etc before you come out, particularly in school holidays, and the whole of february. Please click below to see a how to get to the shop and to request pre-booking of hire equipment. Ski Lessons There are several ski schools in La Clusaz. We recommend The Ecole de Ski International (ESI), Aravis Challenge, and the Ecole de Ski Français (ESF). The ESI is particularly good for children and adult beginners and intermediates, Aravis Challenge specialises in advanced training and guiding. The ESF is the only school that does group lessons every week of the season. Be aware in the ESF the groups are much larger. You can book direct or, we can do this for you Lift Passes There is some great news here. From last season the lift pass is a computerised card, valid for 3 years, which can be bought, and topped up on line. Click on the link below to get prices and to buy or top up the card. Do remember to keep the receipt. If you do not and you lose your card, you will have to buy a new one. If you have topped up an existing pass, you will have to validate it at any of the lift kiosks on your first ascent.
Description of the Skiing La Clusaz, sitting at 1100 metres, has lifts starting at three sites in the village. The snow record is excellent at all levels, due to the extensive coverage of snow cannons and the particular climactic conditions of the Aravis mountain range. In both resorts, there are extensive and accessable off piste areas and many kms of cross country trails. Mountain restaurants are numerous and very competitively priced. The lift systems are constantly being improved and are well situated, making queues non existent or relatively short, even in high season.
Both La Clusaz and Grand Bornand have made extensive investment in snow making facilities, prolonging the season to the end of April in some areas.
