La Clusaz, situated just one hour from Geneva Airport and an eight
hour drive from Calais, is in the Haute Savoie region of
France.
It is highly regarded by the French as a perfect holiday
destination for skiing in winter and for summer activities. During
the rest of the year it is a pleasure to be in this stunning area,
and there is plenty to do, from walking, to visiting historic the
sights in the region.
La Clusaz is no purpose
built concrete jungle, but rather a working village with chalet
style architecture and old farms dotted around the mountainside,
some of which have been turned into atmospheric mountain
restaurants.
The La Clusaz clientele is predominately French and so the village
retains its rural charm even during the Winter and Summer high
seasons.
La Clusaz has developed over the years from an isolated farming
community into a holiday destination with an international
reputation. Despite the huge growth in visitors, the local economy
still relies heavily on the production of the acclaimed local
cheeses, such as Reblechon, Tomme de Savoie and Chevrotin goats
cheese.
In addition to the skiing,
La Clusaz has become a base for the activity minded visitor all
year round. In Summer there are more than 40 sports and activities
available in the area, including most water sports on beautiful
lake Annecy, just 30 minutes away.
As well as pursuing the
strenuous pastimes, you can chill out on the balcony of your
accommodation, or take a gentle stroll in the mountains,
discovering the local fauna and flora.
Between the Winter and
Summer seasons, there are many things to occupy and relax you
amongst stunning scenery. There are many interesting places to
visit, such as medieval Yvoire, and the towns of Geneva and
Annecy.
