Restaurants, Bars and Clubs
Bars There are numerous bars a in La Clusaz. They tend to be busy for apres ski, then calm down until about 10 pm when the crowds finish dinner. We think that the best bars in town are as follows: Pub Le Salto. This is a British style Pub, run by French. The staff are all really friendly, and they have eight draught beers. This is our favourite. You can find the pub at the foot of the Crêt du Merle chairlift, behind and above the cinema or on: www.publesalto-laclusaz.com. Le Lion d'or. This bar, situated by the church has recently changed hands. More lively than before, with a younger clientele. Alain, the owner, is a good lad! La Grolle. This is your local if you are staying near the ice rink. Nanou and Didier run a good bar, with the added attraction of an excellent restaurant next door. Les Caves du Paccaly. The chic pub of the village. Sometimes known as the Baccally. Expensive, but lively. Le Bar à Vin. Good wines at reasonable prices. Can be lively later in the evening.
Restaurants There are numerous restaurants in La
Clusaz, catering for all tastes. La Scierie. This restaurant, like most is great for the local stuff but this is cuisine with a twist. Good quality food at reasonable prices. La Grolle. Situated by the ice rink, this restaurant mixes local cuisine with steak. Of particular interest is the pavé de boeuf, which comes on a skewer and is cooked over a flame at the table, by you! The portions are very large. Le St Joseph. A gastronomic delight at a very reasonable price. This restaurant is situated in the Alp Hotel and for classy cuisine, is hard to beat. You will pay double the price for this quality in the UK!! L’Ourson. A fine local restaurant with good prices. Situated by the tourist office. Ferme du Lormay. Probably the best traditional restaurant in the region. The menu is small, varied and filling. The atmosphere is great and there are some fine wines and fantastic desserts. If you don’t book, you won’t get in! Ask us to book for you. The only drawback is the 20 minute drive. L’Outa. The attraction here is the wide choice of menu, from pizzas to magret de canard. Something for everyone. La Calèche. An excellent restaurant near the church. Local specialities and friendly service. L’Ecuelle. This is an excellent restaurant, serving the usual local dishes, plus international food. The hot foie gras starter is expensive, but just fantastic.
Clubs Clubs are pretty expensive. It is best to do most of your drinking in the bars. It is no good taking spirit bottles in and buying mixers - they cost the same as alcohol. Club 18. This club is at the top of the vilage near the Marché U supermarket. Opening at 11pm drinking and dancing go on until 5 in the morning. L'Ecluse. Down in the town square, there is a visible river running under the dance floor. Open the same hours as above.
